Agree and not agree… not at all in both cases. Of couse design needs function, needs a “why” and a “for”…. But those pretty pixel that often come from begginers and students are a needed exploration on aesthetic design that provides dozens of trends every year. That explorations gives professional or experimented designers sources of inspirations and tools for that well-done and useful projects they make. Everything has a place on the market in my opinion. I also made pretty pixels in the past… I just had to learn… Problem, maybe, is not on the pretty-pixel… Maybe the debate / problem is about when not nor well-prepared companies buy or hire just the look and feel instead the research and thinking. It’s even cheaper…
